Family Roots

Our efforts this year took place in the Maidenhead library on Silver Sunday and the following Wednesday.

We had a meeting with the librarians to discuss what we could do which would result in the individuals that attended to be motivated to come again and again to meet in the library.

We decided that two, two hour sessions on resarching the family tree might work. The intention is to set up a group at the main library and others served by the borough which have access to these free online tools. We used Ancestry (which is free to use in the library, ) FreeBMD (Free Births Marriages and Deaths)and War Records.

On the Sunday and the Wednesday four people turned up, it may sound small but we only have two others to help so it became a bit of a crowd with other visitors to the library showing interest. To others we gave a leaflet for follow up at a later date.
